Epic Games Announces Impossible Studios!

Epic Games, Inc. announces the opening of Impossible Studios, a company comprised of highly skilled, senior-level game development talent. Based in Hunt Valley, Maryland, Impossible is the latest addition to Epic’s network, which includes corporate headquarters in Cary, North Carolina; ChAIR Entertainment in Salt Lake City, Utah; People Can Fly in Warsaw, Poland; Epic Games Korea in Seoul, Korea; and Epic Games Japan in Yokohama, Japan.

Led by studio director Sean Dunn, Impossible’s first project is the touch-based action role-playing game “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” for iOS. “Infinity Blade: Dungeons,” which was conceived at Epic’s Cary studio, is being developed in collaboration with Epic and ChAIR under Impossible’s roof in Maryland.

We were so glad we could help keep this great team together, and we’re lucky to have them,” said Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps. “At the time, I said that finding a full team of superstars was ‘impossible’ and apparently the name stuck! Pairing the imagination and experience of Impossible with Epic’s technology, IP and resources makes for a business greater than the sum of its parts.”

Capps will lead an “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” panel with the game’s lead designer, Ian Frazier, and author, Brandon Sanderson, at Dragon*Con in Atlanta on August 31. “Infinity Blade: Dungeons” is set for release on the App Store later this year.

I wouldnt mind if epic bought the rights to Kingdoms of Amalur back off Rhode Island. I’d like to see a Kingdoms of Amalur 2.

I don’t think that will happen. Might be a good fit for Microsoft though.

well i used to get enthousiastic about epic related news, but several decisions you made successively since 5/6 years just had me completely divorce with anything “made in Epic ent.”
I mean by that, simply, i avoid sight crossing with your products on any plateforme now.
allow me to explain myself: i play on PS3 and ANDROID (newly galaxy S3, amazing pocket computer!)

but here after taking the time to come and post here, you would believe i didn’t completely turn my back? _there’s a slight chance you would think, if i see you cutting edge IPs coming near where i can touch them?
      _not sure yet.
But i’d really like to get to understand what had you abandon me and guys like me in the first place! did we get contagious of any sort of leprosy by loving the PS3 or ANDROID?
      …i don’t think so.
thanks for reading that, and trying to understand my point as just a guy, not as a simple and dirty customer with coins in his pocket to harvest

I’m sure you’re really bummed that Epic doesn’t spend incredible amounts of money porting their games to Android so that you can pirate them…

        • greg

          hello “sidia user”!
you thought I’m your relative prolly but you’re completely mistaken..
most piracy is done through iphone dialbreaking.
anyway where can you make such assumptions about someone you don’t know any shit about? ..sire Almighty..

By the tome it worked!!! The Well of Souls is functional, yay.

I would love to see Epic do a Masters of The Universe RPG. No ones ever touched on the He-man universe in a game and It’s got the elements of Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning written all over it but much deeper, and exciting. I think Epic should Jump on it. Wish I knew how to make games. I would mock up a beta and present it to them.

SO EXCITED FOR INFINITY BLADE DUNGEONS! at first it looked dissapointing, but as I looked into it, it looked wonderful.

I am so happy to see this team stay together. I am absolutely in love with Kingdoms of Amalur. I know that Rhode Island is going to sell off the IP, any chance that this company would be able to pick it back up to patch and continue it and then develop Kingdoms of Amalur 2? That would be amazing.
