Lost Relics DLC Coming June 18th!

on | featured gears of war

The new Lost Relics DLC for Gears of War: Judgment will be arriving tomorrow, June 18th for VIP members!  The rest of Gears fans can expect to get their hands on Lost Relics the following Tuesday, June 25th.  This DLC includes four new maps, new weapon and armor skins, as well as the new mode Breakthrough.  Read up on all the new maps and study the flythrough videos below to get the competitive edge over your enemies.

Lost City Map

CHECKOUT – Checkout’s combat takes place in the carcass of an abandoned superstore.  The shop owners tried to move inventory with a closeout sale in the weeks leading up to the HOD evacuations, but ultimately had to walk away and leave everything to time and history.  The intense close-quarters combat of the store aisles makes every decision important.  Weapon selection is key, cover is essential to survival and every move has an impact.  When facing your enemy, remember what the sign says: “Everything must go.”

LOST CITY – The ruins of this ancient city were once a major archeological find .  Despite sitting empty for centuries, the hydro-powered aqueduct and canal systems were still in working order and proved that the ancient Serans had a remarkable grasp of engineering and architecture.  Like so many projects, excavation was abruptly halted when the Locust emerged and changed the face of the planet.  Now every Seran city sits as empty and lost as this one.

MUSEUM – Situated on the bay just outside the city capitol, The Ilima Museum of Natural History features an array of permanent exhibits, special programs, and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages.  With over a million artifacts and specimens in our collection, you can explore the wonders of the natural world at your own pace, or take part in one of our special hands-on workshops. Tickets are on sale now for our latest special showing: The Ages of Seran Military Might.  Get up close and personal with ancient swords of mystical power and see some of the first working mechanical weaponry of our storied past.

WARD – The battle for Halvo Bay was fought on many fronts simultaneously.  While most areas of the city fell quickly, a few sections actually had time to mount a defense and fortify against the incoming Horde.  Some were even able to push the Locust forces back and regain some ground before all was lost.  This Overrun map features one such area where the battle was small but intense, and the dedicated forces of the COG army tried to hold off wave after wave of invading forces with little in the way of reinforcements.  They pushed the Locust back several blocks before resistance increased and ultimately they found themselves in a fierce tug of war with little hope of success.

Gears of War: Judgment Map Pack Coming Soon!

on | featured gears of war

blood_drive_action_shotThe latest expansion for Gears of war: Judgment, the Call to Arms Map Pack, is coming to VIP Season Pass holders on Tuesday, April 23 and will be available worldwide April 30.

The Call to Arms Map Pack brings players three new multiplayer maps, a brand-new mode called “Master at Arms” and six armor and gun skins for customizing your characters and weapons.

New Maps:

Terminal: (OverRun) The speed and ferocity of the Locust invasion took Halvo Bay completely by surprise.  Residents scrambled to evacuate by every means possible, and COG forces were called in to maintain order as martial law was enforced.  However, the Locust showed no mercy, and gave no quarter; they swept through train terminals like this one to take advantage of the close quarters and sheer number of defenseless humans trapped within its walls.  Sometimes, COG forces could hold the line long enough for a final evacuation, but too many lost their lives in defense of the people and the land they loved.

Blood Drive: (Standard Multiplayer) As casualties started to mount, the staff at Halvo Memorial quickly began what would become the largest triage effort in the history of Sera.  Their “Give Blood Today” campaign inspired a global blood drive in support of COG forces and wounded civilians.  Sadly, Halvo fell quickly, and the hospital became a battlefront instead of a sanctuary.  The seed of hope was planted, however, and government-run Memorial hospitals across the country mobilized to keep the effort alive until Jacinto Memorial was the last standing bastion of hope for the people of Sera.

Boneyard: (Standard Multiplayer) The concept of traditional memorial services had to be suspended due to the constant stream and alarming volume of casualties as Sera fell victim to the Locust Horde.  Memorial grounds quickly became boneyards.  Unmarked holes became grave sites and mausoleums were filled with the nameless remains of the fallen, their skeletons piled into heaps.  Tread lightly, you never know what, or who, you’re walking on, and one day you’re bound to join them.

New Mode: “Master At Arms”

This new free-for-all game mode exclusive to “Gears of War: Judgment” will test the true range of your soldiering skills.  The goal is to get a kill with each of the 20 different available weapons, without resorting to melee or grenade tactics.  Every successful kill will automatically advance you to the next available weapon until you have used them all and proven your skill as a true Master at Arms.

The Call to Arms Map Pack provides 10 new achievements worth a total of 250 Gamerscore.

on | featured gears of war

Forces of Nature AftermathAll of the new maps in the just-announced Gears of War 3 DLC “Forces of Nature” take place during or after a natural disaster. There are three brand new maps, Cove, Aftermath and Artillery. Two old fan favorites will be making a return, Jacinto and Raven Down. Fog, snowstorms and tsunamis will make playing these maps quite an adventure.

There are also special weapons hidden in the maps during Horde and Beast mode called “Elemental Cleavers.” The cleavers do different types of damage, like an imulsion cleaver that explodes on impact. Forces of Nature CharactersFans will also be treated to four character models and seven new weapon skins. Two of the weapon skins, which were designed based on community feedback, will need to be unlocked. There is also 250 gamerscore points added with this DLC.

We listen closely to your suggestions and feedback and we’re happy to announce that the game mode Guardian will be making a return with the “Forces of Nature” DLC.

GT.TV’s Geoff Keighley talked with Epic Games Producer Rod Fergusson about the DLC on last night’s episode of GT.TV. You can view the video in it’s entirety HERE. The Forces of Nature DLC will be 800 MS Points and  Gears of War 3 Season Pass holders will get the content free when it launches on March 27.
