I admit to being a child of the 80s. Yes, the decade that gave us cultural icons such as parachute pants (the only pant to challenge corduroy for the title of "Loudest pants") and hair bands (which take first place in the category of, "Depressing things to tell people you used to do as you're bagging their groceries.")
That being said, it also introduced me to a couple of my greatest inspirations. One was spending countless hours plunking quarter after hard-earned quarter into games like Pac-Man, Galaga, Tempest, and Donkey Kong. The other influence? Scary movies. I love scary movies in general. Monster, zombie, slasher...seriously, all kinds. Horror movies from the 80s (Critters, Return from the Living Dead, Gremlins...) all had something that is missing from the horror of today; a sense of humor.
I feel like that's part of the flavor that Fortnite has with our enemies. They're scary, funny and genuinely a blast to fight and it all starts with our go-to group of baddies...the Husks. I mean, these guys (and gals) have "hoodies" that just happen to be faces...FACES! And they can come at you in all the ways, from the old-fashioned full frontal assault, to a poisonous belch that puts my garlic breath to shame. There's even one "lovely lady" who throws flaming skulls at you. Whose skull? Who knows, but they are flaming skulls!
Anyway, sit back and enjoy as we introduce our terrifying crew of creatures.
