V.1.9.1 causing multitude of Unreal crashes with custom refresh rate monitor

    ISSUE: Unreal Engine 4 crash (an Unreal process has crashed) when timer reaches 00:00 in the match lobby when getting pulled into bus.

    OCCURRENCE: Roughly 50-75% of the time.

    CAUSE: something in V.1.9.1 not playing well at that point with a 72Hz refresh rate instead of native 60Hz. Fortnite Battle Royale had previously been absolutely fine with it prior to this update. Every other program remains absolutely fine with it. No frame skipping in UFO TEST framerates.


    Hello, this one has taken me days to isolate and reproduce, due to never experiencing program crashes because of a monitor custom refresh rate in the past (first time for everything). Before changing to native 60Hz I disabled graphics card overclock, reinstalled the game and all the Microsoft C++ Redistributables and a bunch of other things. Had no idea something in the new update doesn't like non-native refresh rate at the point the timer reaches 00:00 in the match lobby.

    Monitor is an Asus MX239H with a native 1920x1080 60Hz resolution and refresh rate, and a 1920x1080 72Hz custom resolution and refresh rate set through Nvidia Control Panel. Not that the monitor matters (as it's something that's happening only since V.1.9.1) but hey.

    To me it's vital this gets fixed, please, because I suffer from motion sickness at 60Hz in fps games or racing games or third person games like Battle Royale where you have to turn the camera/aim very fast, and just a little increase to 70 or 72Hz helps me a lot. It's also likely this issue will be affecting others with non-native resolution/refresh rates that were fine prior to V.1.9.1., even if they crash at a different point.

    UPDATE: Just experienced my first Unreal crash even at 60Hz after about ten matches. Hmm. So it seems to help but does not eliminate the V.1.9.1 issue altogether.

          UPDATE:

          Thank you very much, Epic. Your little patch yesterday fixed my issue. 15 games or so, no crashes, even with overclocked CPU/video card/monitor. Must just have been a coincidence that I had some temporary success with native 60Hz before this patch. https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/f...mance-incoming
