    Halloween Event Musings

First of all, do not panic, do not run away screaming. But if you are brave, hurry up, you have up until November 29th!

Secondly, you'll be receiving a lot of Llamas when first starting the game. The patch notes explain that the daily rewards have been changed to provide more rewards, retroactively. This means that you get all the rewards you should have received in the past, including Candy, the new event's currency. The event Llama only costs 500 candy so you will be able to buy quite a few of those with the retroactive changes mentioned in point 2.

Thirdly, the cards have been revamped: heroes, defenders, survivors, weapons, traps all got an overhaul.

    Play Tab
    • In the lower left corner there's a "View Event" button. Click it to view the event's quest progression and get a preview of the side quest rewards.

    Quest Tab > Event: Fortnitemares
    • Initially there will be few, but once you complete the first quest you'll receive many more.
    • These mainly reward with Candy, however there are also epic and legendary rewards, as well as V-bucks

    Armory Tab > Collection Book
    • There's a new "Fornitemares Items" section, with two categories.
    • The "Fortnitemares Heroes" category let's you preview the 14 new heroes.
      • Constructors: Controller and Hotfixer
      • Ninja: Dragon and Shuriken Master
      • Outlander: Ranger, and a Pathfinder received as part of the progression quests
      • Soldier: Support Specialist and Urban Assault
    • The "Costume Party 'Attendees'" category is special: when completing a collection group you'll receive an uncommon, rare, epic and legendary survivor, as well as a legendary weapon.
    • While you're there, have a look at the "Traps" category: there are some new ones available for Ceiling and Floor.

    Map Tab
    • There's a new pip that looks like an evil pumpkin for the Hexsylvania zone.
    • That zone only shows one location. If you are brave enough, you can enter. It looks very different so take some time to figure out how to navigate, but be careful, there are new monsters.
    • Once you complete a few quests you'll have access to more locations

    Loot Tab
    • Fortnitemares Llama: The event Llama will drop a lot survivors, as well as defenders and other stuff. Expect to receive a lot of survivor. Yeah, a whole lot of them. You will overflow with survivors, so put them to use:
      • Slot them in your survivor squad
      • Put them in your collection book
      • Use them as transformation components
      • Recycle them for Survivor XP and Training Manual

    Progression

First quest. You open the map, select the Halloween pip and there's a yellow house in the middle of the storm. Ok, this is easy, you simply select that yellow house, start it, and while in the zone you are given tasks. So you complete those and VICTORY, you move on to the second quest.

Second quest. You open the map again, select the Halloween pip again, and again there's a yellow house in the middle of the storm. Ahh, I know how this goes...start...zone in...complete tasks..VICTORY and move on to the third quest.

Third quest. This is so easy, I don't need anyone telling me how to work this. I select the Halloween pip and WOAH, WHERE'S THE YELLOW HOUSE?? What the hex are we supposed to do to advance the progression???

Remember the famous halloween phrase "trick or treat"? Well, you had two treats, now you are tricked!

Here's how it goes. From the third quest onward, you have to know the name of your progression quest. You find this in the Play tab by clicking on the "View Event" button. Once you have that name you then go to the Quests tab and, inside the "Event: Fortnitemares" section, find the quest with the same name. And there you go, now you know how to progress. So stop reading and go collect that candy!

Still here? The "other" quests are side quests. You do not need to complete them in order to advance the progression. So don't overly focus on them; they'll get done while you are doing the progression quests.

      Difficult Quests
Some quests are straight forward but others are more complex. Here are a few that gave problems to most people:
      • Destroy the Shacks: there are 3 per zones. The first type looks like a teepee made of straw, about 8 feet tall, found near a wooden house. The second type looks like a tent made of wood and appears beside a cauldron. And the third type looks like a teepee made of leaves.
      • Destroy the Thrones: Ray often exaggerates, such as when she yells in panic that "THE FORT IS FALLING!" rather than saying "Husks are attacking the fort, better investigate". So thrones? Yeah, a few will be actual thrones but most will be comfy chairs in front of a warm fire.
      • Stakes: these are made of wood. Wood comes from trees. So, yeah, hack away at trees, lots of trees, a whole forest's worth of trees!

Here are some pictures to better understand what to look for.

Good stuff so far. Hunting randomly for those dang shacks without knowing what they looked like was annoying.

Thanks for linking with the sticky. I also made a guide/musings for Horde Challenge.

Yup, the in-game descriptions were a bit ambiguous; how many have destroyed whole houses when searching for those shacks.

Some items had the yellow exclamation point to show the way but many did not. Sadly I did not think of making this visual guide until later so the images are out of order.

After telling the team of our quests, the two high lvls ran out finding the cages, marking catacombs, breaking thrones, chandeliers, killing everything in their way. We knocked out <15 minute missions after mission until our daily candies ran out, the two high lvls who were searching the gigantic maps found all our quest items. By having full time explorers, the normally difficult to find search-and-destroys were all completed. Aside from the multiple rewards from the quick missions, we also got our multiple Fortnitemare-Lllamas, without having to actually do those side-quests ourselves. This was all sorts of teamwork and pretty fun.
The community is terrible 95% of the time if you try to chat to your team they won't ever respond even if you're asking what they need for their quest because you'd be willing to help them out even if you're done with all of yours, that's just how the poor the community is on this game.

I just completed the entire questline, but many others have also. I received 3 legendary Heroes (plus one duplicate that I exchanged for the legendary assault weapon) and 2 epic ones.
