I'm getting the 'An error occurred in our internal service. Please try again in a few minutes' error when trying to set up Two-factor authentication (2FA)

If you are trying to set up Two-factor authentication (2FA) for your account and encounter this error, you may want to try checking the following first.

  1. Make sure you are setting up your account 2FA correctly. Please look at Two-factor authentication (2FA) and how to enable it.
  2. Check for any ongoing server issues or outages by visiting https://status.epicgames.com/ (Opens in a new tab)

If, after checking these, the error persists, you can check or try the following: 

  • Try using an incognito window or a different browser/device to turn on 2FA for your account
  • Turn off hosting/VPN services during the process 
  • Try turning on a different 2FA method, e.g., if you are getting an error when turning in SMS 2FA, try turning on email 2FA
  • Make sure that the country on your Epic Games account matches the country you currently reside in.
