Why do I need to verify my age on the Epic Games Store in Australia?
To comply with local regulations (新しいタブで開く), players in Australia must verify they are 18 or older to get or buy R 18+ content on the Epic Games Store.
When you open the product details page for a game rated R 18+, the Epic Games Store shows a verification screen before you can continue to the page or get the game. The screen includes the content name and the message “Due to local regulations, you need to verify your age to access this content.”
How to verify your age
When you go to an R 18+ (新しいタブで開く) game on the Epic Games Store, select Verify age.
A new window will open on your mobile device or web browser to begin the Kids Web Services (新しいタブで開く) age verification process.
Select your preferred method and complete the steps on the screens that follow.
Once we verify that you are 18 or older, you’ll be able to download or purchase games rated R 18+ (新しいタブで開く).
We use Epic’s Kids Web Services (新しいタブで開く) (KWS) to verify your age. KWS partners with third-party providers to offer multiple privacy-preserving age verification methods. Here are the methods available in Australia:
Take a selfie. Yoti (新しいタブで開く) analyzes your selfie to estimate your age. This photo is encrypted, never seen by a human and is deleted by Yoti immediately after estimation. KWS does not receive your selfie.
Enter your credit card details. Stripe (新しいタブで開く) authorizes 5 cents on your credit card to confirm it is valid. Your card won’t be charged. KWS does not receive your credit card details.
Take a photo of your ID. Veriff (新しいタブで開く) uses your government-issued ID to verify your age. Your information is encrypted and securely processed by Veriff and your photo is deleted immediately after verification. KWS does not receive your ID.
Use ConnectID. Beginning later this month, ConnectID (新しいタブで開く) will let you confirm your age through your bank. No banking information will be shared with ConnectID or KWS.
The information you provide to these partners is only used to verify your age. More information on KWS and the verification methods can be found here (新しいタブで開く).
If you are under 18
If you are under 18, you cannot get content rated R 18+ on the Epic Games Store. You see the message “You can't view this content due to your age.” A parental control PIN cannot unlock this content, and parental consent does not change this.
