How do I adjust my FPS in Fortnite if it is locked or capped?

In Fortnite, V-Sync limits your FPS (frames per second) to match the refresh rate (Hz) your monitor operates to minimize screen tearing while you play.

For PC players, you can change monitor's refresh rate by following the steps outlined in:

• Change the refresh rate on your monitor in Windows (Opens in a new tab)
• Change the refresh rate on your MacBook Pro or Apple display (Opens in a new tab)

If you would like to set your FPS to a number higher or lower than your monitor's refresh rate, you will need to turn off V-Sync and change Fortnite’s default FPS to a number you prefer in the settings menu.
Note: Changing the FPS manually may cause issues like stuttering or FPS drops. If this happens, switch the settings back to their original values.

Turn off V-Sync

1. While in the Fortnite lobby, select the Player Profile icon at the top right
2. Select Settings (gear icon)
3. Turn V-Sync Off in the Display section
4.  Select the frame rate you prefer in the Frame Rate Limit section
   • Setting the Frame Rate Limit to UNLIMITED removes the limit entirely.
5. Click on Apply button in the bottom right corner
6. Click the Back button to return to the lobby

Note: In the lobby, your FPS is limited to 60 or 120 depending on the window and rendering mode you use. To make sure your changes worked, you’ll need to play a match in any game mode.

Currently, highest limit available in Fortnite's in-game settings is 360 FPS. If you'd like to set the limit to a specific number beyond this, kindly reach out to your Graphic Card's support team for further assistance. 

If you notice that the changes you made have not been applied, follow the steps outlined in What do I do if Fortnite doesn't save my settings? and try adjusting your game settings again.
