How to troubleshoot Fortnite Live Event access issues?

If you're having trouble joining or remaining in a Fortnite Live Event, follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

Unable to join - Stuck on “finding server” or receiving matchmaking error

High player demand at the start of an event can lead to temporary server issues. Try the following steps:

  1. Restart Fortnite and try joining again.
  2. Check Epic Games Status (Opens in a new tab) and Fortnite Status on X (Opens in a new tab) for any known issues.
  3. If servers are overloaded, wait a few minutes and retry.
Note: Do not close the game.

Kicked out or disconnected mid-event

If you were kicked, crashed, or disconnected while the event was running, you were still considered to have attended. Rewards for attendance will be granted to your account within 72 hours of the event's ending.

Couldn't ready up or enter with teammates

Party matchmaking during live events may be slower than usual. Try having each player attempt to join individually. If one player gets in and others don't, they are counted separately based on their own connection.

Event appears as locked or unavailable

If you receive the message “This experience is locked”, parental controls on your account may be restricting access. Please follow the steps in How can I change my Parental Controls Settings? to modify your settings.
Note: In some regions, certain events may not be available due to local age rating restrictions - this cannot be changed.

Didn't receive the reward

If you attended or were connected during the event but haven't yet received your reward, do the following:

  1. Wait up to 72 hours after the event ends.
  2. Check your locker, as some items appear there without a notification.
  3. If you still haven’t received the reward after 72 hours have passed, contact our support, providing us with a brief description of the issue, your Epic display name, and the date of the event.
