Improve low FPS in Fortnite on PC
If Fortnite runs with low FPS, frame drops, or stuttering on your PC, the steps below can help you adjust Windows settings for performance. Be sure to restart your PC after making changes when prompted.
Set Fortnite to use the high-performance GPU
- In Windows, open Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Display, then select Graphics (or Graphics settings).
- Turn on Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling, if available.
Note: Windows may require a restart to apply this change. - Under Custom options for apps (or Graphics performance preference), select Browse.
- Locate and select FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe, then select Add or Select.
- Select Options, choose High performance, then select Save.
Turn off Windows Delivery Optimization downloads
- In Windows, open Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Advanced options, then select Delivery Optimization.
- Turn off Allow downloads from other PCs.
Set your power plan to High performance
- Open the Windows search bar and type Power.
- Select Power & battery (or Power & sleep).
- Select Additional power settings.
- Select High performance (or Best performance, depending on your device).
Turn on Game Mode and turn off Xbox Game Bar
- In Windows, open Settings.
- Select Gaming.
- Select Game Mode, then turn on Game Mode.
- Select Xbox Game Bar, then turn off Xbox Game Bar.
