Error 2738 when installing the Epic Games Launcher

You may see the following error when trying to install the Epic Games Launcher:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738.

This error is related to a Microsoft component called 'VBScript', and it is not specific to the Epic Games Launcher. To try and resolve it, try the steps below:
