I don’t have permission to update the Epic Games Launcher

You may encounter a permission error when trying to update the Epic Games Launcher on a computer managed by someone else, such as a school, work, or family-shared device.

How to fix it

If you're not the administrator of the device, you’ll need help from the person who has admin access. The administrator will need to:

1. Open the Epic Games Launcher on the device.
2. When the update starts, a User Account Control (UAC) prompt will appear.
3. Select Yes to allow the update to continue.

Once the administrator approves the prompt, the Launcher will install the latest version.
