How do I use split-screen mode in Fortnite?

You can use Local Multiplayer (also known as split-screen or couch co-op) to play games such as LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, Battle Royale, Zero Build, and more on PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

How to start a Local Multiplayer session

  1. Start Fortnite

  2. Go to the Lobby

  3. Connect a second controller

  4. Select the second player’s console account

    Guest and Quick Play console accounts are not supported

  5. After picking a console account, Fortnite will automatically ask you to link your Epic Games account

  6. Link your Epic Games account to access your Locker outfits, Battle Pass, Quests, and other
    progress

  7. Follow the instructions on screen to complete linking your Epic Games account

  8. The second player will appear in the lobby

  9. Local Multiplayer will automatically begin in supported games

How do I find games that support Local Multiplayer?

Once a second player has connected:

  1. In Discover, look for games in the Great for Local Multiplayer row.

  2. In Game Details, look for the Local Players tag.

Troubleshooting Local Multiplayer

If Local Multiplayer isn’t working as expected, check your internet connection. Local Multiplayer will only work if your internet connection is stable.

Please note:

  • If one player disconnects or exits the match, then the Local Multiplayer session will end

  • Local Multiplayer only works while in a match, and the lobby and sub-menus are not shared

  • Players can’t share inventory using Local Multiplayer

  • Both players must have the same language settings to play on Local Multiplayer

  • Local Multiplayer is not supported on mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, PC platforms, Creative and Limited Time Modes, Save the World, Ranked Mode, or Solos
