Trouble loading Fortnite Creative after converting islands to UEFN
If you converted all of your Fortnite Creative islands to UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) projects, you may run into an error when trying to open Creative mode through the Fortnite lobby. You might see a message: "Failed to start the server in time."
This issue can happen on any platform. To resolve it, you need to have at least one Fortnite Creative island that is not converted to UEFN. Try the steps below to get access to Creative again.

Alternative solutions
Option 1: Join a friend’s Creative session
- Launch Fortnite.
- Have a friend invite you to their party.
- Ask your friend to select Creative from the By Epic section in the lobby.
- Once the session loads, look for two portals—one will be yours.
- Enter your portal to create a new Fortnite Creative island.
- After creating the island, exit and try launching Creative mode again from the lobby.
Option 2: Use UEFN to launch Creative
- Open a UEFN project
- Select Launch Session
