Why can’t I use custom matchmaking for this Fortnite game mode
If you see the following error when trying to start a Custom Match:
MATCHMAKING ERROR. Sorry but you can't use custom matchmaking for this game mode. (match.custom_key_not_supported.401)
Why this happens
Custom matchmaking is only supported for specific Fortnite game modes.
If you attempt to use a custom matchmaking key in a mode that does not support it, this error will appear.
What you can do
Custom matchmaking is available for eligible Battle Royale modes.
- Confirm that you have selected a supported Battle Royale mode.
- Re-enter your custom matchmaking key.
- Try matchmaking again.
If you continue to receive this error while using an eligible Battle Royale mode, there may be an issue with your custom matchmaking access.
