What two-factor authentication methods are available to use with my Epic Games account?
- Epic Authenticator: Epic Authenticator is built into the Epic Games Authenticator app and the Epic Games Store app. When you sign in, you will get the number-match prompt for Epic Authenticator. Select the matching number to approve the sign-in.
You can learn more about the Epic Games Store app and Epic Games Authenticator app at store.epicgames.com/mobile (Opens in a new tab) - Two-factor Authenticator App: Use an Authenticator App as your 2FA. When you sign in, you will be required to use the security code provided by your Authenticator App. If you opt to use an authenticator app for 2FA, these common third-party authenticator apps can be found in your mobile device's app store:
- Google Authenticator
- LastPass Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- Email For Two-Factor Authentication: Use a security code sent to your email address as your 2FA. The security code will be sent to the address associated with your Epic Games account. You will need to use it when you sign in.
- SMS Code For Two-Factor Authentication: Use your phone as your 2FA. When you sign in, you will be required to use the security code we send you via SMS text message.
Note: Some regional phone numbers may not be supported for SMS 2FA. If your number isn’t eligible, you may see the error: "SMS to this region is not supported." In that case, please use a different phone number or set up an alternative 2FA method, such as an Authenticator App.
If you use more than one authentication method, set your preferred one as primary by clicking the three dots (…) next to it and selecting Make my primary 2FA method
