Graphics Driver Updates

A graphics driver is software that allows your graphics card to communicate with the operating system. As graphics technology advances in both hardware and software, the manufacturers of graphics cards update their drivers regularly to improve performance and fix bugs. You should always make sure that your graphics drivers are updated to the latest version to ensure the best experience.

If you are unsure what graphics card manufacturer you are using, you can find out by running a DirectX Diagnostic:

  1. Click the Windows key (Start) button, type Run, and press Enter.
  2. In the pop-up window, enter dxdiag and press Enter.
  3. The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will load. If there is a pop-up window asking about digital driver signing; click the answer for your machine.
  4. Click Save all information, then Save as.
  5. Click on Save (the file should be saved to your desktop as dxdiag.txt).
  6. Exit the DirectX Diagnostic tool and locate the file.

If you are using a Mac, you can use this Apple support document to access a file that is roughly equivalent to a DirectX diagnostic.
