Convert your Fortnite island to a Squid Game island
For a limited time, creators will have an opportunity to convert existing islands into a Squid Game island. This is a similar process to The Walking Dead Universe conversions that happened earlier this year, but taking into account creator feedback we’re adding new requirements to participate and expanding the submission period.
Submissions to convert your island are open June 27, 2025 through August 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM ET. After this deadline, you will no longer be able to submit a conversion request. When you submit your island, we will verify that your island meets the participation requirements and then proceed with the conversion process. The team will begin processing conversions on July 14.
Participation Requirements
To be eligible for this island conversion, you must meet the following criteria:
You must already be a member of the Island Creator Program (Opens in a new tab) and have already signed the IP Partner Licensing Agreement (Opens in a new tab).
Your project is in compliance with the Squid Game Brand and Creator Rules (Opens in a new tab).
Your project must be a UEFN island.
You must be the owner of the project that is being submitted for conversion.
NEW: Once converted, you agree to maintain your island as a Squid Game island for at least 30 days.
If you decide you no longer want your island to be a Squid Game island, you have until January 27th, 2026 to request a reversion through Player Support (see below for instructions). Before submitting your request, you’ll need to remove all Squid Game content from your island as these will generate validation errors.
NOTE: By clicking “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page and submitting an island, you agree to the participating requirements above.
Engagement Payouts
As stated in Squid Game Brand and Creator Rules (Opens in a new tab), you agree to share 15% of your total island payout with Netflix, the IP holder. For more details, refer to the Brand and Creator Rules.
When you switch your island to a Squid Game island, your Engagement Payouts will be adjusted for the whole day of the change.
How to Submit Your Island for Conversion
If you meet the conditions above and are interested in converting your island, here’s what to do:
Make sure you’re signed in to your Epic Games Account and select Contact Us (Opens in a new tab) at the bottom of this page.
Add your Project ID and Island Code to the description in the form. You can find the project ID by going to your Creator Portal Projects (Opens in a new tab), selecting the project, and copying the URL. Once you have the full URL, you can find the Project ID between /projects/ and /releases.

Project ID: 6178190c-xoeb-4d2f-a44a-3c00ff82e66e
Follow the Player Support prompts to complete your submission. Once submitted, a Player Support agent will begin the island conversion process. After the Player Support agent has completed their work, you will need to update the .uefnproject file to complete the conversion process.
Open the UEFN .uefnproject file for the project you want to convert.
NOTE: By default, UEFN stores projects in: %userprofile%\Documents\Fortnite Projects
Find "featureSet": ""
Update this to "featureSet": "solidwavegfs"
Then save your .uefnproject file
The island conversion process should now be complete. Open the project that has been converted and confirm you can access Squid Gametools and assets.
Islands will be converted daily, starting July 14th and ending August 12th. Conversations will take place around 6:00 AM ET and 12:00 PM ET each day. Please note that this is a manual process. We appreciate your patience as conversions are processed.
After Your Island is Converted
Once your island is converted, you’ll gain access to the Squid Game assets. To publish your island, follow the normal publishing flow. Your island will be moderated against the Squid Game Brand and Creator Rules. Squid Game Island Publishing Opens August 14th @ 9AM ET.
While your island is being converted, the most recently published Fortnite version of the island will remain in Discover. Once the publishing hold lifts and you publish the Squid Game version, your island will move to the Squid Game Game Collections page.
How to Convert Back to a Fortnite Island
If you’d like to convert your island from Squid Game back to a regular Fortnite island, please create a new support ticket with Player Support (Opens in a new tab). In your request, let them know you wish to convert back, and they’ll begin processing your request.
After being converted back from a Squid Game island to a non IP island, here is what you will need to complete the process:
In UEFN, remove all Squid Game assets from the island
In a text editor, open the UEFN .uefnproject file for the project you want to convert.
NOTE: By default, UEFN stores projects in: %userprofile%\Documents\Fortnite Projects
Find "featureSet": "solidwavegfs"
Update this to "featureSet": ""
Then save your .uefnproject file In UEFN, create & test a private island code.
When you are ready to publish the non-IP island, complete the regular publishing flow in the Creator Portal with the new private code and publish your island.
Once your converted island is published, it may take up to 2 hours for the changes to your island to be reflected in Discover.
Contact Player Support (Opens in a new tab) before August 12th at 9.00 AM ET if you want to convert your islands, we will begin converting islands on July 14th, 2025. After July 14th you can expect a response within two business days.
