What are Time Limit Controls and how do they work?

Time Limit Controls allow parents or guardians to manage how much time their child spends in Fortnite and Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). If a parent chooses to enable this parental control, they can:

  • Limit the total amount of time their child can play per day.

  • Choose specific time windows when their child can play each day, and set time limits within that window.

  • Choose whether to allow their child to request more time as they approach the end of their time limit.

Players with time limits set for their account will begin seeing in-game notifications when they have 30 minutes left in Fortnite and UEFN. When time is up, they will not be able to use Fortnite or UEFN until time is scheduled to resume, unless a parent chooses to grant more time.

Time limits are paused when Fortnite enters Sleep Mode. In UEFN, if the child is inactive for 10 minutes, UEFN goes idle and time limits are paused.

Time Limit Controls work across consoles and devices. As long as a child is using the same account across devices, the limit set by the parent or guardian will be in effect for Fortnite and UEFN no matter where they play or create.

Note: Limits set for a device or console operate independently of Fortnite Time Limit Controls and may further limit allowed time on that device.
