Child account unable to add or send friend requests

When sending friend requests or adding friends from a child's account, a PIN may be required. If the PIN is unknown, the child will be unable to send friend requests and add friends. To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

Note: This process can also be used if player received an error message "Your account needs to be set up." and ask to resend email to the parental email, as if VPC is not completed.

  1. Update the PIN code of the child's account by signing in to the child's account and following the steps in this article: How can I change my Parental Controls PIN?
  2. Once you reset the PIN code on the child's account they should now be able to add friends, but it will ask for the PIN each time. To disable this, log in to the child's account and follow the steps below:
    1. Launch Fortnite and go to the Parental Control settings in the game.
    2. Switch the Require PIN to add Epic friends setting to OFF.
