SU-MD-HSH: Failed to asynchronously deserialize a manifest

The Epic Games Launcher was not able to get the data expected when trying to self-update. In most cases, this issue will fix itself by waiting a few minutes and trying again. If the issue continues longer than 15 minutes, try the following:

Windows

  1. Exit the Epic Games Launcher entirely by right-clicking on the tray icon and selecting Exit.
  2. Navigate to the following directory: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\Config\Windows
  3. Open the Engine.ini file in a text editor.
  4. Edit the file to add the following command line:
    [Launcher]
    ForceNonSslCdn=false

    Note: If the file has the above entry saying true change it to false. If you don't see the above entry at all in the file then copy and paste it into the file.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Try launching the Epic Games Launcher.

If you don’t have the Engine.ini file, it can be added by doing the following:

  1. Create a TXT file on your desktop (right-click on the desktop, choose New, and then Text Document.
  2. Name the document “Engine”
  3. Open the file using Notepad and add the command line:
    [Launcher]
    ForceNonSslCdn=false
  4. Click on File, and choose Save As.
  5. Change the Save as type to All Files.
  6. In the file name add: .ini
  7. Save.
  8. The Engine.ini file can now be found on the desktop. It can now be moved to its correct location: C:\Users\username}\AppData\Local\EpicGamesLauncher\Saved\Config\Windows

Mac

  1. Exit the Epic Games Launcher entirely.
  2. Navigate to the following directory:
    /Users/{user name}/Library/Preferences/Unreal Engine/EpicGamesLauncher/Mac/
  3. Open the Engine.ini file in a text editor.
  4. Edit the file to include the following:
    [Launcher]
    ForceNonSslCdn=false

    Note: If the file has the above entry saying true change it to false. If you don't see the above entry at all in the file then copy and paste it into the file.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Try launching the Epic Games Launcher.
