Why is my Fortnite account banned?
Epic Games wants Fortnite to be a fun, safe, and fair environment for all of our players. This means that every now and then, we have to ban players or creators who break our rules (Opens in a new tab) in Fortnite. You can learn more about safety controls, reporting misconduct, and bans and sanctions in our Safety Center (Opens in a new tab).
Players
Players can be temporarily or permanently banned from Fortnite for doing something that is against the Community Rules (Opens in a new tab), the Fortnite End User License Agreement (Opens in a new tab), or against the rules of a tournament (Opens in a new tab). Temporary bans can last up to 365 days. Permanent bans in Fortnite are indefinite. While a player is banned, they can still play other games on the Epic Games Store. Player bans include the following:
- Matchmaking Ban (Fortnite): You will be able to log in to Fortnite and text/voice chat with other players, but blocked from entering any Epic- or creator-made experiences in Fortnite, including UEFN playtesting.
- Social Bans (Fortnite): Players will temporarily or permanently lose access to voice and text chat, depending on the severity of the violation.
- World Lock (LEGO Fortnite Odyssey): All players, including the world owner, will be prevented from accessing a locked world.
- Multiplayer Ban (LEGO Fortnite Odyssey): Other players will be prevented from accessing your world. Only the world owner will be able to enter the world in order to correct the violative content.
Players receiving a ban will receive an email outlining the type of ban, duration, and the violated community rule.
Creators
Creators can be temporarily or permanently banned for repeatedly creating, posting or sharing content that violates our rules, creator rules (Opens in a new tab), or is illegal. We consider a variety of factors when deciding the appropriate sanctions including the frequency and severity of the content.
Creators receiving a ban will receive an email outlining the type of ban, duration, and the violated community rule.
Appealing a ban
Player and creator bans can be reviewed and appealed in the Sanctions and Appeals Portal (Opens in a new tab) on our Safety Center (Opens in a new tab), using the Sanction ID provided in email.
