"Login Failed" error when logging in to Fortnite on Xbox

If you're seeing this error, try the following steps to troubleshoot:

  1. Clear your Xbox's cache: How do I clear my Xbox Series S|X cache?
  2. Quit the game from the Xbox Dashboard, and then restart the game:
    1. From Fortnite, click the Xbox button on the controller and select Home to get out of the game and back to the Xbox dashboard
    2. With the game title selected, click the Menu button on the controller
    3. From the Fortnite game menu that pops up, click Quit
  3. Restart your modem/router: How do I restart my modem or router to solve connection issues?
  4. Switch the DNS that your Xbox device uses:
    1. Press the Xbox button on your controller
    2. Go to Settings
    3. While on the General Tab, navigate to: Network Settings > Advanced Settings > DNS Settings
    4. Change the setting to Manual.
    5. Enter the following:
      • Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
      • Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4
  5. Remove and re-add your Xbox profile: Add or remove an Xbox profile
  6. If all the above steps fail, you can try resetting the console device using the Reset and keep my games & apps option as explained in this support article from Xbox support: How to reset your Xbox console to factory defaults
