What happens when I leave or get disconnected from a Competitive Match in Rocket League?

When players leave or get disconnected from a Competitive Match, they are banned from matchmaking for a set length of time. This system was introduced to reduce the number of players quitting midmatch.

Initially, the ban is short, only five minutes. Each time a player leaves, the length of time will increase. Ban level will decrease by one level every 12 hours.

First Offense: 5 Minutes

Second: 10 Minutes

Third: 20 Minutes

Fourth: 40 Minutes

Fifth: 60 Minutes

Sixth: 120 Minutes

Each Additional Offense: 24 Hours

We understand that this can be frustrating when it’s an honest disconnect. But we believe it is more frustrating when matches are interrupted by players intentionally leaving in the middle of a match.

For a disconnected player, Rocket League will try to reconnect the player if the match is still active. The ban will only go into effect after the match is complete and will only last five minutes. In the rare instance that a player gets disconnected again within 12 hours, they would be subject to an increased ban length.
