What is the trade-in feature in Rocket League?
The trade-in system allows you to exchange five items of the same rarity to receive one randomly drawn item of the next-highest rarity. However, not all items are eligible for the trade-in system. Here are the requirements:
- The item intended for trade-in must have been earned as part of an item drop
- The item is a duplicate, independent of the rarity (i.e., you can have the same item in different rarities, and it counts as a duplicate).
If your items meet these requirements, here is how to trade in:
- In the main lobby, click on the Garage
- Select Trade-in. All items from your inventory eligible for trade-ins will be organized into 3 categories listed below. The items in each category will be organized by rarity and show you how many trade-ins you can make.
- Core Items
- Tournament Items
- Blueprints
- Within a category, select the rarity of the item or blueprint that you want to trade in. Then select 5 items of the same rarity that will be used up permanently in exchange for another item of the rarity above. If an item is marked as a favorite, it will not appear in the Trade-In Menu.
Example: For every five Base items that are traded in, one random Sport item is drawn in exchange, and so on! - Click on Accept, and confirm that you want to trade in the selected items. The 5 items will be used in exchange for 1 item of a higher rarity. You can repeat this process to obtain higher-rarity items such as Special, Deluxe, Luxury, etc.
Note: Trade-ins are not reversible, and Player Support cannot assist with this.
To account for Cross-Game ownership, the Trade-In system has undergone some changes to its functionality. To learn more about the cross-game item trade-ins, please refer to the following blog post: v2.34 brings a new Play Menu and Cross-Game items to Rocket League! (Opens in a new tab)
