Why can’t I join a Fortnite Tournament?
If you see a Lock icon on an Event or Tournament in the Competitive tab, it means you're either not eligible to join or the tournament hasn't started. Click the icon to open a window showing the entry requirements and which ones you’re missing.
If the tournament is still unavailable, check the DETAILS section for information about the qualifying requirements and your progress for the specific tournament. You can also refer to the Rules Library (Opens in a new tab), as each event has its own eligibility requirements, including age limits. For more information about age requirements, refer to How old do I have to be to be eligible to compete in a Fortnite competitive event?
Most cash-prized tournaments require players to have competed in at least 14 distinct Epic tournaments within the last 180 days. If a player has not met that requirement, the tournament may appear as locked with "Qualifying Round Required" text on the front of the poster. Please compete in more tournaments in order to be eligible.
Eligibility requirements will be more clearly communicated in a future game update. For further guidance, see What tournaments can I play to meet the 14 tournaments criteria in Fortnite?
If you were recently unbanned from Fortnite but still can't join tournaments, this is expected behavior. To read more about our stance on this, please see our blog post: Fortnite Anti-Cheat Update - February 27, 2025 (Opens in a new tab)
