Why did I bounce when I grabbed at the same time as another Bean in Fall Guys?

If two Beans try and grab the same part of the trapeze, only one will triumph! - and it'll be the Bean that got there first. Sometimes it may look for a moment like you've merged with the first Bean (while they both jump and grab), and then you get punted off the trapeze.
