Why do I have to access Fortnite with PlayStation 4 to redeem purchases made on PlayStation 5?

If you used to play Fortnite on PlayStation 4 and now use PlayStation 5 you may encounter an error where purchases and content isn't redeemed on the PlayStation 5 and is only visible once you access the game from PlayStation 4.
