Why can't I customize "The Guardian" outfit with golden or other special rarity sprites in Fortnite?

Sprites of special rarity or higher cannot be equipped on "The Guardian" outfit. The list of customizable sprites can be seen in-game when selecting Edit Styles for the Guardian outfit.
