Why am I stuck at the Checking for Updates screen when launching Fortnite on PlayStation?
This can happen when there is a miscommunication with the Epic Games Servers.
Try these troubleshooting steps:
- Check the Server Status: Epic Games Server Status (Opens in a new tab)
- Reset your modem or router: How do I restart my modem or router to solve connection issues?
- Check Communication Settings:
- Close the Fortnite.
- Restore Licenses. For instructions, follow the steps in PlayStation's article How to restore licenses on PlayStation consoles (Opens in a new tab).
- Look for Network under the PlayStation Settings.
- Go to Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select Wifi/LAN depending on what you use to connect (LAN/wired connection is highly recommended).
- Select Custom/advanced settings (if you are on Wi-fi, you will need to select the Network and enter its password).
- Make sure the following settings are set with these selections:
IP Address Settings (Automatic)
DHCP Host Name (Do Not Use)
DNS Settings (Manual)
Enter the following IP addresses:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4 - Select Next.
