How to redeem a V-Bucks card

V-Bucks cards are prepaid cards that redeem for a set amount of V-Bucks on your Epic Games account.

Fortnite Gift Cards are replacing V-Bucks cards, but V-Bucks cards may still be available in some regions or local retailers while we're in the process of rolling out the new Fortnite gift cards. 

V-Bucks cards can be redeemed for V-Bucks only. Fortnite Gift Cards add funds to your Epic Games account balance and have a different redemption process.

Note: If your card says Fortnite Gift Card, do not follow these instructions. Refer to the How do I redeem a Fortnite gift card?

Keep your purchase receipt until the redemption is complete. Epic Games Support may request it if you need help.

  1. Go to your Account Settings (Opens in a new tab) to make sure that you're logged into the correct account. If you are redeeming your card for a console, you can log in using your console credentials.
    Note: Make sure that the Display Name under Account Information matches your in-game display name.  If you're prompted to create your Epic Games account, please follow the article: How do I get my Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League progress to sync across all of my devices?
  2. Hover over your Display name icon, and select V-Bucks Card, or open the V-Bucks Card redemption page (Opens in a new tab) 
  3. Select Get Started to begin the redemption process.
  4. Carefully scratch off the back of your V-Bucks card to avoid damage and enter your PIN code with no dashes.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Select the platform you want to redeem the V-Bucks Card on, and then select Next.
    Note: If you don’t see the platform you want to redeem your card on, please verify the Epic Games account you’re logged into, as this step will only show the device(s) linked to the account you are currently signed in.
  7. Review the details and make sure the Epic Games account, device, and new balance are all correct, and then select Confirm.
    • If you redeemed the V-Bucks to a PC, Switch or mobile device, you can launch Fortnite and spend your V-Bucks!
    • If you redeemed the V-Bucks to your XBOX or PlayStation, a secondary code was generated and it must be entered into your Microsoft or Sony account to complete the redemption.

XBOX and PlayStation

  1. A 12-character or a 25-character code is generated after you select Confirm, you'll now need to enter this code into the selected third-party website (Sony or Microsoft). This code is also emailed to you.


  2. The V-Bucks redemption website will direct you to sign in to your third-party account.
    Note: Be sure to sign in to the account that is linked to your Epic Games account. If you have multiple Sony or Microsoft accounts, it may be helpful to log in to your third-party account using an incognito window.
  3. Enter the 12-character or the 25-character code, and the V-Bucks will be added to your account.
