Why can't I play Fortnite in split-screen on my PlayStation?

If you're running into problems while trying to play Fortnite in split-screen on PlayStation, or if you don't see the triangle button to use split-screen, please try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Make sure you've followed all the steps in this article: How do I use split-screen mode in Fortnite?
  2. If you've followed those steps, and still can't use split-screen, check your Controller Connections. Ensure both controllers are properly connected to the console.
  3. Confirm both players are logged in with separate Epic Games accounts. Ensure both accounts have the necessary permissions and are linked correctly.
  4. Check if the selected game mode supports split-screen. Split-screen is typically available in modes like Duos and Squads.
  5. Make sure both Fortnite and the console's system software are updated to the latest versions.
  6. Restart your PlayStation console. This can resolve temporary glitches or software conflicts that may be preventing the split-screen from working.
  7. Clear the PlayStation cache, refer to: How do I clear my PlayStation cache?
  8. Check Communication Settings:
    1. Close the Fortnite.
    2. Restore Licenses
      • For PS4 - Select Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses > click Restore
      • For PS5 - Select Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses> click Restore
    3. After that, look for Network under the PlayStation Settings.
