How to sync Rock Band 4 instrument controllers on PlayStation 4?

Sync Rock Band 4 controllers

  1. Turn on your PlayStation 4 and stay on the Main Menu.
  2. Make sure your controller has fresh batteries.
  3. Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth Devices.
  4. Press and hold the PlayStation button on your instrument.
    1. The light will blink slowly, which means the controller is ready to sync.
  5. Press and hold the small wireless button on the controller.
    1. Drums: black button on the lower left of the center module.
    2. Guitar: white button where the amp plug would be.
    3. The light will blink red and blue, which means it is searching for the console.
  6. Select your controller from the Bluetooth Devices list.
  7. Select Yes to connect.
  8. Assign a profile to the controller.
    1. If you do not have a profile, select Create New > Guest Profile.
  9. Wait for the light to turn solid blue.
    1. A solid blue light means the controller is connected.
    2. If the light is red, replace the batteries.
    3. If the light keeps blinking, repeat the steps above.
  10. Press the PlayStation button to return to the Main Menu.
  11. Open Rock Band 4 and press the Options button to join.

Note: You must assign a profile to use the controller in-game.

Sync older instrument controllers

Legacy controllers require the original adapter.

  1. Connect the original adapter to your PlayStation 4.
  2. Start Rock Band 4.
  3. Make sure your controller has fresh batteries.
  4. Press and hold the PlayStation button on the instrument.
    1. The light will blink slowly.
  5. Press and hold the sync button on the adapter.
  6. Press and hold the wireless button on the controller.
    1. Drums: black button on the lower left of the center module.
    2. Guitar: white button where the amp plug would be.
  7. Wait for the light to stop blinking.
    1. A steady light means the controller is connected.
    2. If it keeps blinking, repeat the steps above.

Note: PlayStation®3 controllers only work inside Rock Band 4. Use a standard controller to navigate menus, then join with your instrument.
