How do Freestyle Vocals work in Rock Band 4?

Freestyle Vocals are available only on Hard and Expert difficulty in Rock Band 4.

Freestyle Vocals allow you to sing outside the standard vocal path. You are scored based on how accurately you sing the harmonic chord tones associated with each changing chord in a song.

This feature allows you to express yourself while following the musical structure of each track.
