What is the Trade In function in Rocket League?

The trade in function allows you to exchange five items of the same rarity to receive one randomly drawn item of the next-highest rarity. All items from your inventory that are eligible for trade ins will be organized into 3 categories: Core Items, Tournament Items, and Blueprints. The items in each category will be organized by rarity, displaying the number of trade ins you can make in the top right corner of each rarity. The items must meet one of the following requirements to be eligible for trade in:

  • The item must have been earned through drops.
  • The item is a duplicate, independent of the rarity (i.e., you can have the same item in different rarities, and it counts as a duplicate).
    Note: For cross-game items, only duplicates will display in the Trade In menu, while one copy remains in your Inventory. For eligible non-cross-game items, all copies you own display in the Trade In menu. 
    • If an item is marked as a favorite, it will not appear in the Trade In menu even if it is a non-cross game item or duplicate. 

If your items meet one of the requirements, you can trade in by following the steps below:

  1. Select Garage from the main menu
  2. Select Trade In.
  3. Within a category, select the rarity of the item or blueprint that you want to trade in.
  4. Select 5 items of the same rarity that will be used up permanently in exchange for another item of the rarity above.
    Example: For every five Base items that are traded in, one random Sport item is received in exchange.
  5. Click Accept and confirm that you want to trade in the selected items. You can repeat this process to obtain higher-rarity items, such as Special, Deluxe, Luxury, and so on.
    Note: Trade ins are not reversible. Epic Games Support cannot assist with this.
