I can't open the Epic Games Launcher because the Verifying Update message appears to be stuck

If you're having an issue where the Epic Games Launcher continuously displays "Verifying Update" and doesn't start, try uninstalling the Epic Games Launcher again and then reinstalling the app directly from the Microsoft Store.
