Apple is blocking Fortnite updates and new installs on the App Store and has said they will terminate our ability to develop Fortnite for Apple devices. As a result, the Chapter 2 - Season 4 update (v14.00), did not release on iOS and macOS on August 27.

Playing last season’s content

If you have already downloaded Fortnite via the App Store, you should be able to continue playing Chapter 2 - Season 3’s v13.40 update.

Note: Since the Season 3 Battle Pass ended on August 27th, further progression is not possible on any platform.

Impact to your game

Cosmetics

You will still be able to play the v13.40 version of Fortnite, but will not be able to access any new content on the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Battle Pass. Cosmetic purchases will still work across platforms, but no cosmetics items added after the v13.40 version will show as available in your iOS Locker if purchased on a different platform.

Gifting

Players on iOS will be unable to receive gifts of items that were released after v13.40, including the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Battle Pass and newly released cosmetic items. To redeem gifts of newer items, you must log onto an alternate platform that has access to v14.00.

Note: The gift, be it the Battle Pass, a new item, etc, will remain unavailable on iOS after being received on the alternative platform.

Challenge Packs

iOS players will be unable to complete new challenges, including Quick Challenges required for Derby Dynamo or specific Style Challenges for Harley Quinn. You can complete these challenges on other platforms that have access to v14.00.

Game Modes

Battle Lab, Duos, Arena, Party Royale, and LTMs are currently disabled on iOS.

Other ways to play

To play Chapter 2 - Season 4 now, download Fortnite on PC or on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.

If you want to play Fortnite on Android, you can access the latest version of Fortnite from the Epic Games App for Android on Fortnite.com/Android or the Samsung Galaxy Store.

How do I get a refund if I’ve spent money on Fortnite and can’t access my purchases because of the Apple retaliation?

Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow Epic Games to directly refund players for App Store purchases and instead requires players to ask Apple for a refund. Please follow these instructions if you wish to ask Apple for a refund: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084.

We are issuing a full refund to all customers who have made purchases on iOS through Epic direct payment before August 28. It may take up until September 7 before you see the refund to your payment method. There’s no action needed on your part and you will retain V-Bucks and items purchased.
