Lead Core Infrastructure Engineer (Manager)

Epic’s fast-growing IT Engineering team is looking for a manager to lead a global team of engineers.  The focus will be leading the team of Core IT Infrastructure engineers covering cloud, datacenter, network, storage, and virtualization infrastructures.  This role will work closely with internal stakeholders to provide services that enhance the user experience for all of Epic. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 8-12 engineers and supporting staff across the globe
  • Manage the enterprise compute infrastructure and network infrastructure in a multi-site environment.
  • Lead collaborative efforts to design and implement infrastructure systems and services for the business.
  • Drive major initiatives across multiple partner and customer teams 
  • Able to build and develop a team of hardworking engineers that support Epic’s global infrastructure
  • Define standards of how work should be done including selecting the right tools and standards to maintain a high degree of excellence.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years relevant management experience in infrastructure engineering
  • 3+ years cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred)
  • 8+ years with an infrastructure engineering background, with deep knowledge in at least one of the core technologies including servers, storage, networking, load balancing, application platforms and virtualization
  • Demonstrated capability of delivering good business outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working inside large organizations with many stakeholders
  • Experience designing and implementing datacenter infrastructure in on-premise and colocation environments 
  • Solid understanding of modern datacenter and private WAN networking technologies
  • Agile methodologies

Preference for candidates with

  • Experience with version control systems (Perforce, Github enterprise, etc.)
  • Experience in using data to inform decision making
  • Experience in procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and asset management
