EPIC GAMES STORE REFUND POLICY
Don’t like what you bought? Read on for how to return your purchase for a refund. If you’ve recently made a purchase through the Epic Games Store on PC or mobile and want a refund, you’re in the right place. Below you’ll find all the info on what you can refund, when you can refund, and how to begin the process.
What types of products can I return for a refund?
Games and apps you purchase through the Epic Games Store on PC or on mobile are generally eligible for a refund. These products are marked “refundable”. If a game or app is marked as "non-refundable", then it is not eligible for a refund. Offers that include virtual currency or other consumables are marked “non-refundable” and are not eligible for refund. Also, most in-app purchases are non-refundable. Epic cannot provide refunds for purchases made outside of the Epic Games Store.
For purchases marked “self-refundable”, you can refund the item online by yourself. Sign into your account on our website, click the Account dropdown on the top right of the store, go to the Transactions tab and click the game title. If the game is eligible for a self-service refund, please click the “Refund” button to start the refund process.
This policy applies to in-game real-money purchases in Fortnite, Fall Guys, and Rocket League on PC since they are powered by the Epic Games Store. If you are making an in-game real-money purchase on mobile, this policy applies as long as you have downloaded Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League Sideswipe from the Epic Games Store. Real-money purchases made on third-party mobile stores or on console stores are governed by the refund policy of the store where you made your purchase.
When are products eligible for a refund?
PC games and apps are eligible for refund within 14 days of purchase (or 14 days after release for pre-purchases) if they are marked as “refundable” or “self-refundable”. However, you must have less than 2 hours of runtime on record. Offers that include virtual currency, consumables, and offers marked “non-refundable” are not eligible for refund. Most in-app purchases are non-refundable.
Mobile games and apps are eligible for a refund within 2 hours of purchase (or 2 hours after release for pre-purchases) if they are marked as “refundable” or “self-refundable”.
You will not be eligible for refunds for games or apps from which you have been banned or for which you have otherwise violated the terms of service. In addition, you may not be eligible for refunds if Epic determines that you are abusing the refund policy.
How can I request a refund?
For purchases marked “self-refundable”, you can refund the item online by yourself. Sign into your account on our website, click the Account dropdown on the top right of the store, go to the Transactions tab and click the game title. If the game is eligible for a self-service refund, please click the “Refund” button to start the refund process.
For purchases marked “refundable” or if you have questions about the refund process, you can request a refund by clicking “Support” under Settings on our Epic Games Store Launcher or in the mobile app, or by visiting our help page and clicking “Contact Us” to submit a refund request.
How will I get my refund?
By default, purchases will be refunded to the payment method used to make the purchase, but this may not always be possible depending on the payment method. You and Epic may also agree that the refund be issued by alternative method. Please note the amount of time for the refund to process is dependent on your payment method.
What about pre-purchases?
Refunds for pre-purchased games and apps are dependent on product type, runtime and release date. Before the official release date, you may cancel the pre-purchase and get a refund at any time so long as you have less than 2 hours of runtime on record. This applies to early access, beta, and alpha versions of a pre-purchased product.
After the release date, our standard refund policy applies.
What if a product I recently purchased goes on sale?
You can refund your purchase for a full refund and immediately re-purchase the product as long as it abides by the above guidelines. We do not consider this to be refund abuse.
If Epic determines you are abusing the refund policy, you may not be eligible for refunds. The policy exists so you can purchase with comfort and make sure you only spend on the games and apps you want to pay for and play!
If I made a purchase using my wallet balance, can I request a refund?
Yes. If you've completed a purchase with Epic Wallet funds, you can request a refund for eligible purchases. For more information, see our Epic Wallet terms and conditions.
Can I refund the balance in my wallet?
No. The Epic Wallet balance itself is non-refundable. The funds do not have an equivalent in real currency and do not act as a substitute for real currency. Please see Epic Wallet terms and conditions for more information.
If I made a purchase using my Epic Rewards balance, can I request a refund?
Yes. If a product purchased with Epic Rewards is refunded, the refunded amount will be credited back to your Epic Rewards balance. If those Epic Rewards have expired at the time of your refund, Epic may choose, at its discretion, to extend the expiration date for Epic Rewards.
