What we know, and speculation on it.

This is an easy to read version of what we know and speculation on it.
    1. It started approximately two years ago, when J.J Abrams met with Infinity Blade creators chAIR.
    2. We know It's called SPYJINX, we all know what a spy is, jinx is a person or thing that brings bad luck and as Solipscissors pointed out it a play on the word hijinks which means boisterous fun. This appears to indicate a comedic aspect to the game.
    3. It is described as a unique mix of action strategy gameplay, dynamic world building and RPG character development all set in a thrilling, treacherous world of espionage. Cold War vibe detected sounds fun (pathetic attempt to be funny).
    4. It is being developed for mobile and PC and is expected to be released in 2016, with several indications it might come to console. Some form of cross platform play?
    5. It is being made with unreal engine 4, the latest edition 4.10 was just released a few days ago and had a lot to do with mobile devices bug fixes and graphics optimization being the most prevalent. Unreal engine also said they were creating new features for SPYJINX which could mean anything.
    6. No images or in game content has been shown but the website background indicates guns and a stylized or cartoonish art direction for the game.
    7. J.J Abrams is known for his work directing/producing movies such as Star Wars episode 7 the force awakens, the newest Star Trek reboot AKA lens flares the movie (obvious joke is obvious) and Bad Robot.
    8. chAIR is known for its work on mobile games such as the Infinity Blade trilogy and Shadow Complex.
    9. The video didn't show much except for two models of cartoonish/stylized characters.

Please inform me of any mistakes or things I missed.
J.J Abrams is working with chair. If you have any idea what that means please tell.
New info from the trademark filing,
Video game software for personal computers, home video game consoles, multi-media smart phones, wireless mobile devices, and portable media players.
I would like to point out home video game consoles, this isn't indicated anywhere else.

I agree that it appears to be cartoonish in appearance, but let's not assume that means cartoonish/comedic action. It could simply be to be a little less dark and gritty, but still maintain a serious tone. Not sure what era it will be in though. Until further info I guess I'll assume modern

True I think it would be more of a stylized game then cartoonish game however the name does imply a comedic tone. As for the era the gun is the second image does have futuristic stylings.

That it did, but optimism is good to have.

Given your breakdown of the title of the game, it may be worth noting that it's also a play on "hijinks" (Boisterous fun, according to Google). I know that this is pretty obvious, but any clue helps, right?!
Also, I am thinking that the mobile aspect of the game is going to be very interesting--there is something inside of me that says there are going to be elements of real-world interaction like the game Ingress (https://www.ingress.com/).

Thanks I put your user name and hijinks in the post. Just when I thought I was safe from that app it's back.

Yeah, all the same though, I'm sure if not THE best, it will definitely be up there. Based on what they're trying, it's a *relatively* original concept of merged genres

Spy vs Spy keeps popping up in my mind.

We have to remember, this is JJ we are talking about. I think the game might have a slight techno/alternate future vibe to it, at least, that's what I'm getting. I think it would complement the slightly cartoony stylization.

No not the Lens flares! I actually had no problem with lens flares I watched Star Trek 3 times before I noticed and only then because someone mentioned them.
That is also the impression I got from it all.

As the Star Wars trailer proves, JJ is incapable of making anything without lens flares. Even Infinity Blade has lens flares, if you position the camera the right way.
