Griftlands Alpha FAQ

Last Updated 6/15/2020 Griftlands is now in Early Access! Find the answers to common questions below.

Why Early Access?

Klei has used Early Access for all of our games since 2012. We strongly believe that developing a game with the help of an audience leads to a better game!

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

We don't have a concrete launch date picked out, but we are expecting development to take somewhere around 6-12 months. This may change as we incorporate player feedback - we don't believe in shipping games until we are happy with them!

How will the full version differ from the Early Access version?

The full version will have a third playable character and campaign. The existing campaigns will get more quest variation and card content, and the card balance will be refined. Our officially supported localisations will launch with 1.0.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

In the current game, you can play through two complete character campaigns, and an early version of a quick-play brawl mode for one of the characters. There are 15 levels of unlockable difficulty, and more than 600 unique cards to learn across two distinct card battle modes. Beating the two campaigns for the first time on the easiest difficulty settings takes most players about 10 hours.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

We are planning to raise the price in the summer of 2020, to reflect the growing size of the game. Thanks for supporting us early!

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

Within the game players can press F8 at any time to send us feedback with screenshots, logs, and saves attached. We have been using this system, and our forums at throughout the alpha period to engage directly with our players.

How often will you be updating the game?

We expect to roll out updates every three weeks. We also use an Experimental Branch to give players who enjoy rapid updates (sometimes multiple a day) a sneak peek of the upcoming content and a chance to provide feedback.

Is Griftlands a CCG?

No, Griftlands is a single-player rogue-like deck building game with an emergent narrative. You earn cards during play via the jobs you complete, and build out your negotiation and fighting skills. There are no microtransactions.

What platforms will Griftlands be on?

We currently support PC, we’ll look at other platforms down the road.
