    UT2004 - UT3 Style Updates

    UT3 Style is being worked on again, you can find the most up to date info on the vehicles here https://github.com/GreatEmerald/UT3Vehicles and the weapons here https://github.com/GreatEmerald/UT3Weapons/issues

    a lot of progress has been made but with GreatEmerald nor 100Gping100 able to find the time to do much it is slow going and any help would be welcome especially on the weapons, as it stands I'm the only one able to work with them right now but what I know how to do is very limited.

    Hopefully GreatEmerald can find the time to add in some more info here later.

    This is really good work you are doing with the conversion of UT3 stuff to UT2004.
    The UT3 weapons have some complex animations, it would be cool to see these weapons in UT2004.
    I took a look at the links/website and it looks like you guys have done quite a bit of work on this.
    I would love to help out in any way I can, but I am a beginner at making vehicles and weapons and I
    am not sure what you need done? I can import rigged meshes into ut2004 but might need help with scripting.

    Have you seen Aberiu thread/post "A few tips on converting normal-mapped characters/objects for UT2004"
    He takes the bump map in UT3 meshes and bakes the lighting and shadows into the textures to make it pop (jazz it up a bit).
    This could make your UT3 weapons, vehicles and characters look better and not so flat/dull (if you know what I mean).

    I am going to study up on all the stuff you have been doing for the conversion of UT3 stuff to UT2004
    from your links/website and see if there is anything I can do to help.

      They are in UT2004 already, Beta 4 has been available for a while if you didn't know, what's now is what comes after Beta 4 which I guess will be beta 5 but I don't know for sure, maybe GE can fill in that detail if he gets time to be around.

      As it stands now GreatEmerald & 100Gping100 do most of everything, I do very minor code work, mostly testing and Unre-Alex is handling the textures for the vehicles (won't do the weapons though so would be nice to get someone to do them.)

      Have a look at the issues pages to see what's still needing to be done but off the top of my head the Manta's guns don't move correctly, nor the Raptor's guns, the Raptor has a weird firing issue when turning, the Leviathan's shields don't currently work, we don't have the UT3 projectiles just to name a few things.

      Some help testing the weapons would be nice, I'm the only one who has been working with them since I've been helping out so not much progress there.

        The status of the project is that we have all the weapons and powerups, and all the Axon vehicles in a good shape. At the moment HellDragon and Unrea-Alex are doing some nice touch-up/comparison testing and trying to fix some of the leftover bugs.

        Unfortunately my life is incredibly busy right now, so I can't really afford the time to look at the submissions to the repository. I will try to find some time to do it, but the less work I need to do to accept submissions, the better it is for everyone.

        So the main things that would be nice to have help on:
        - UnrealScripting help: it's not even so much scripting itself, as it is validating HellDragon's submissions (pull requests on GitHub) and pointing out how to do some of the things he's stuck on. Of course, having someone good enough with scripting to also work on Necris vehicles would be nice too.
        - Going through the list of issues and thinking of potential solutions, or if it's reasonable to take up the challenge of fixing something like that at all. Issues are very diverse.
        - Particles. That's the #1 thing we're missing right now. They need to be ported from UT3 to UT2004 somehow. From what I know, the particle systems of the two games are relatively different (UT3's system is closer to that of Unreal II, for that matter).

        The next release might be RC1, for that matter. What's left is just the particles and a bunch of polish work.

          Ah darn I think GE's post invalidated the edit I was doing to add a list of the changes so far....so let's try again here I guess

          First thing to note, Unre-Alex and I decided while fixing sound issues that we wanted to try and replicate UT3's randomized sounds, so we re-did all the sounds and they come in 2 package types, Basic which will be the default or the Extended which has the full range with around 11 to 21 variations of a sound, something to note is that the extended is probably not network compatible and intended for offline players who want it.

          Currently the sound updates are pending so if you want to try them then to get those to work you'll need to edit the uc files to point to the new info and you'll also need to download the uax files from my G-Drive from the link found in the Binary Updates issue on the issues pages.
