I've seen a couple concepts for Armor so far, but there's been a bit of disagreement about whether we go with a physical model or an iconic representation. I do not want to rehash arguments about which is better and why - we've already had that discussion, please don't go there. Instead, we were hoping that someone could come up with a concept that can make both sides happy(ish).
Right now, we're using the UT3 Armor models, which are all shiny and greebley and just "too much". We don't want another Knight's suit of armor.
The Helmet model is nice since it implies functionality (headshot protection), but the same is not true of the pads.
We don't need to be tied to those old models if we can find something that works better. As an example, what if armor was replaced by actual physical shields (kite shield for vest, round shield instead of thigh pads)? Maybe the Chest is good, but only the pads need to be replaced by the shield. Maybe the pads are replaced by a shield and the center plate of the chest piece is "shield shaped" so show that it is the same only stronger. Maybe its a small vest and a larger flak vest with no shield. Whatever.
Have any ideas? Be creative, let us know what you think!
