    Question - Dynamic GI & Area Lights

    I just found this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xamOHJF2UTs (Dynamic GI & Area Lights), but should this be avoided for UT multiplayer levels? (DM,CTF, etc) Is there a massive performance loss if I follow this guide? Thank you.

    I don't really have any valid reason to use it other than making the map "look pretty" or to practice using it in a level.

    Yes. It kills frames. What you want is as much baked lighting as possible, so to maximise frames for competitive play, where you are in 144+ range @ 1440p+

    If you were creating an atmospheric adventure game, I would say otherwise as you can deal with 30-60 @ 1080p and the more atmosphere the better. Just ask Naughty Dog, they have got this whole topic sussed.
