    [PROTOTYPE] DM-Covah (Duel + Showdown hybrid map)

    The first map I am actually releasing into the wild. Made it kinda freestyle (no planning beforehand) with some ideas in mind.

    Description


    Designed with Duel and (Team)Showdown in mind. To make it work, 2 spawns are disabled on match start if the Gamemode is Duel. The idea for showdown is to randomly disable 3 out of 12 possible spawns each round. In essence a somewhat big Duel map and a middle-small sized Showdown map.


    Features

    • Lots of verticality
    • Both close and long range battles are encouraged
    • Many interesting movement possibilities
    • Many cool combo possibilities
    • 12 Spawns for Showdown, 3 of which are randomly disabled every round
    • 10 Spawns for Duel.
    • Amp and Invisibilty are disabled in Duel
    • Boots avaliable.
    • "Soft-Powerup" A small place with 3 vials and one ammo pack each for shock, rockets, flak, sniper
    • 2x Shock Rifle
    • Super super basic bot support. (They...kinda...do stuff...)

    Feedback Needed For

    Pretty much everything right now. But please also pay attention to spawns in ShowDown. which work, which don't, which combinations are interesting or overpowered, etc. From this I will implement the first Spawnpoint Rotations.


    Changelog

    DM-Covah-v2 (11.08.2016)
    - Reworked belt area. More open now and more movmenet possibilities. Now accessible from the lowest floor in the map.
    - Reworked former rocket area. Now 100a area.
    - Reworked back-access to diagonal lift/belt.
    - Completely closed off former 100a area, felt too disconnected.
    - Reworked item and weapon placement.
    - Deleted second link and enforcer.
    - Some ledges were annoying, replaced with static mesh without collision.
    - Improved navigation around Windows.
    - Improved some liftjumps.
    - Added jumppad that leads from the metal walkway in the middle to the upper bridge.
    - Opened up area below former sniper position, changed walkway to lead there and added lift to get up to highest foor.
    - Opened up most of the doorways.
    - Changed invisibility position.
    - Lowered some high areas to make boots more viable.
    - Amp now hangs down from the bridge. Accessible through walldodge, hammerjump or boots.

    BigUp for share'n your works with the rest of us rePeteGG but there's an issue with your map on startup: DM-Covah_v1 had no version file.

      Already fixed. Thanks

      Didn't realize that Pak name needs to be identical with mapname (before the -windowsnoeditor part). File is fixed now. the _v1 needs to go from the pak-file name.

        Niceness on the quick fix! Loaded onto the LoPing. (Forgot to remove a _v1 from on one of the server lines)
        Also don't forget to keep the map version tag going.

          should work if you download the new file or rename DM-Covah_v1-WindowsNoEditor.pak in DM-Covah-WindowsNoEditor.pak.

          The .umap File was already named DM-Covah beforehand. I didn't repackage the map, just renamed the pak to its original state. It also worked for flikswich after the renaming.

            Don't rename the PAK file, it will break. You have to re save and recook it with the new file name.

              Thanks for the hint. But it actually was the other way around. I cooked the map with DM-Covah-WindowsNoEditor.pak. Then renamed it to _v1 to keep track of versions in the filename. That didn't work so I named it back to its original state DM-Covah-WindowsNoEditor.pak and got the feedback that it works now.

              Or do you mean that after the pak name is changed, it completely breaks?

                If you rename the PAK file itself, it's going to have a different name internally (inside the engine) in which case it will cause it to either crash or not show up at all. The names have to match, Also, and this is optional, Keep the map name in the world settings the same as the file name. It's the word settings name that shows up in the game browser.

                      released Version 2 Lots and lots of changes. I think this version will stay for a while. Also updated description to fit new version (backpadelt on quite some of the features from v1) Enjoy! And Feedback as always encouraged.

                            It has a mix of architectural themes to it, that's perhaps why the question was posed.
