    DM-Stalwart REMAKE wip

    Last night i started on ut99's DM-Stalwart remake its a small map good to learn how to use editor.

    I didnt try to make anything to scale, i just went by feel and adjusted some spaces for the longer time it takes to combo cos the man needs to combo.

    Check it out. I had the idea not to close it off with the roof. so u can use boots as there will be plenty of platforms above when finished. Also i made a secret room with Udammage and Belt.

    Id like to make the box with the keg open when shot like original but havent got that far yet. Was also thinking one of the garage doors can open and get baserk or invis?

    uh. such you do to learn the editor? so it's one of your first maps? awesome job so far =)

    in the video on ~1:44 there's a glitch, between the ramp and the upper platform it leads to, there's a small gap in the floor.

    in case you don't remember or don't know: in DM-StalwartXL a garage door opens slowly when standing in front behind which is the redeemer.
    at least the main room in the center i'd give some kind of ceiling, up there could the U-Damage be placed. for the open parts around i'd add some windows and use lower walls so there can be some eye candy, awesome environment be seen. considering a garage as stalwart needs to be placed on street level, it might be some skid row as seen in DOM-Condemned... which leads to another idea:

    behind the windows you could use an environment as in DOM-Condemned. there could be one garage door leading outside. somewhere close there could be an open building which leads to the roof or the second floor, the platform above the main room.



    in your map there could be a garage door between the 2 medium health in the main hall which leads to the screenshot, there the building to the left could have a door with an jump pad, elevator or simply stairs leading to the upper floor above the main room. that would also offer some space to place the berserk or invis.

    in general i do not appreciate maps where i can jump and see the whole map, that's rather a design for the quake 3 space maps. and imo especially in ut it makes the map looking kinda unfinished and ...unreal UT tries at least to provide some sane explanations for the geometry, tries to make levels at least somewhat real. walls standing around with no actual use do not fit imo. maybe you want to keep this in mind when designing the upper platforms?

        Oh hey Mike i didnt see your reply when i posted the pak. Strange.
        i had the window idea but never thought what the view should be. I like your idea.
        Yeah i only got the editor few days ago and been playing with it. Still have no idea what im doing. There are lots of areas that need fixing. I started making it at 8pm and went to bed at 2am. Im just suprised it looks like the map lol

          Polished it up a fair bit and added another level to battle. Id like some ideas what to do with upper level. Thanx

            Yes it feels already a bit like Stalwart, reminded me of fun times I had in the "crates-room" either on ut99 or ut2k4. Well done for a quick job and if you're just beginning to mess with the editor


            However I wonder why you want to add an upper level ? Ok it could be fun of course...

            But I believe it could also be a dangerous move, as it is a very small map. It could break the map flow (which has proved to be good during all these many years) and you have to be careful not to create a single "dominant" area from where players could control the whole map.

              Yeah i think your right. I just wanted to add a bit to it but i guess it was already a perfect small map to begin with. What do you think about leaving the udammage room and just blocking the rest off. Also too much weapons maybe i know the original had a few weapons only. Also since half of the stelwart xl map is also pretty much done aswell i might make that too.

                    A top level combined with a slightly expanded upon bottom level on StalwartXXL would be nice!

                        I have finished the layout for Stalwart XL but i need help.

                        How do i make the garage door to redeemer work also the room next to sniper rifle with 2 secret doors, how do u make them work too?
