    [PROTOTYPE] DM-Mimic

I am no longer working on Mimic. Instead I am working on my new map called "Echo". I dont expect to ever return to Mimic so I am making the .umap for Mimic available, anyone is free to do wathever they want with it. I am missing material files for Mimic after a harddrive crash, the version of Mimic I salvaged needs work before its playable.

umap download (not playable version): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B81...ew?usp=sharing

          Update on the progress: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjG5...ature=youtu.be

Map is kind of ready for testing. At the moment I feel like the map is nice to move around in, but I have no clue how it will play out. I am a bit nervous to begin testing but it will be fun. I am ready to make heavy modification to the layout. Im just hoping that people will think its worth continuing working on.

          Pak is coming soon.

Did some quick changes to the map after playing a couple of games on it. Widened doorways and removed some line of sight blockage.

New pak is available for download: https://ut.rushbase.net/fjaru/DM-Mut...wsNoEditor.pak

Layout feels playable now. Spawns seems decent, gun placement seems decent. Layout needs work. More playtest required. Will make a couple of versions with alternative changes later and gather info on which direction the project should go in.

maybe im wrong, but earlier map was smaller and more complex, now its too open im my opinion. ;( smaller hallways were more interesting.

Newest version with major improvements is up on the hubs (version a4). I really want to playtest on it now.

There are probably some scale issues right now, but I like how the layout turned out, or atleast the theory of it.

Im thinking of making another version of the map where i remove a couple of areas entierly (probably pads and bio area) and rebuild them from scratch with a new layout, and then I want to compare the two versions and see which is best. But right now I just want people to play on it.

Fjaru this map plays pretty well! good job! It is a little rocket launcher heavy though

Im glad you guys like the map, that makes me really happy! The new movement changes made this map play better I think. I really need to playtest this in duel scenarios tho. Custom maps does not seem to be working on the hubs atm. I am going to be working on some small refinements meanwhile primarily focusing on movement. I might also do some small basic thematic implementation so that areas can be differentiated easier (thats what i tell myself to justify playing around with meshes).

I feel that you should throw in some nearby trees and forests behind the walls of the arena for a nice cosmetic touch at some point, if you weren't already planning on doing that. It could work out well with the whole biodome theme, too.

This could be one of the top duel maps.

Yes im planning to use a limited variety of colors but very vibrant colors, so I think I want these white walls, and then trees and plants with green leefs and red flowers.

A color scheme something like this: http://cdn2.sbnation.com/assets/3448...onclose560.jpg but with more vibrant reds. And I want the white sterile look to be dominant around ground level gameplay areas, and then when you look up or outside the map the naturistic themes take over. I also want giant colorful butterflies to circle around in the sky. I dont want the map to end up too sterile and boring thematically.

Looks very promising, good movement possibilities for different skill levels. Can't wait to see more progress
