"you’ve been automatically subscribed to a repository on GitHub"

I've just received an email saying that

you’ve been automatically subscribed to a repository on GitHub.

    zishenwushi/UnrealTournament forked by zishenwushi
The URL is 404 but the user does exist although not active: https://github.com/zishenwushi

    What's happened?

    We'll check into this!

Nothing untoward I think. Likely somebody forked the UT repo and then changed their mind, deleting it, hence the 404. If you don't like the notifications you can change them here:

      Attached Files
C++: Spray prototype | Compilation Tweaks | Maps: Quayside (inactive)

Alright, I won't worry about it then.

I'd guess they forked it, gave the EpicGames organization write permissions for whatever reason (which obviously sends every Subscriber with linked GitHub account that mail) and then deleted it again after noticing their mistake.

Yeah, looks like some Chinese guy forked it and added the EpicGames org. Since I'm member of that group I went in and removed the group from the repo.

It's kind of crazy that GitHub lets you add so many people that easily.

Funnily I didn't get the email.
"Yeah. _Lynx can fire the lightning gun, have the lightning bolt turn a 90 degree corner, stop and ask the closest teammate for directions, confuse the directions and get lost, realize it went the wrong way, make a U-Turn, and get a headshot on the intended target."

Okay, I've been subscribed to three more of these, one of which I can't remove the members from. Can Epic do anything to stop their group from being added to random forks?

Edit: I can't even leave this one: https://github.com/tomhodgins/UnrealEngine

Edit2: just got added to another one, pls make it stop

I got three today. And github cannot help to unwatch all of this. That is ridiculous.

I've got 5 of these in the last day or so. I wonder if it is due to the change that github made to it's pricing structure fairly recently which would have required them to create a special case for Epic Games to avoid charging them hundreds of thousands of dollars for all the users that Epic has.

Guys, go to https://github.com/settings/notifications page and uncheck the Automatic watching checkbox:

                      This should fix it.

To stop watching those repos, go to https://github.com/watching and click "Stop watching all repositories":

                        Yes,

We're in touch with Github, but in the meantime you can stop getting the emails by following the instructions Lynx gave.

Received one today just as an FYI to you Flak. I have since followed Lynx's instructions.
