[PROTOTYPE] Ben Rudman - Announcer Demos! - Voice Overs

    Hi there!

My name's Ben Rudman and I'm a freelance voice actor.

I figured as a fan of Unreal Tournament that I'd throw my hat in the ring and see how I fare for a possible announcer voice.

So far I've only had time to record one demo session, but I'll try and update this thread with new sessions and examples if and when.

I can do a range of accents, so I might also have a shot at some character demos too if I have the time.

    Thanks for listening!

    Hey Ben, Welcome to UT!

Your demo would be well suited for some of the character voices, but if you're trying to capture the spirit of the Announcer, you need to take on a very serious tone. The reward announcer isn't whimsical or lighthearted, it tends to be pretty intense and serious.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that as a sequel, the content was to be unique/fresh to an extent hence my more upbeat take on the announcer voice. My bad.

I'll reflect this feedback in my next announcer audio test. Thanks again.

I liked that s-s-s-s-shock therapy one, but as Jim stated, its a bit blend for a Unreal Tournament announcer, great voice tho.

I really enjoyed the performance! I would not be opposed to having an light-hearted announcer pack. It reminds me of Monday Night Combat.

            Thanks for the feedback MaxCarnage!

As a fan of Unreal Tournament I'm prepared to work with whatever people prefer to be possibly be a part of this project in some form.

I had some time today, so I quickly knocked together some audio files. Mostly experimental and testing, but I figured you guys might like to hear:

            Announcer Types:

            Random Character Tests:

            - http://benjaminrudman.com/audio/UT4_...er_Voice_4.mp3 (I imagine this being a big beefcake of a person, hence the ironic voice).

I like both the traditional/serious and upbeat/ironic voices. Wouldn't mind using you as my traditional announcer.

Forgive my confusion, but I'm not sure I get the reference being made?

Haha, these are awesome. I really liked your first approach. It would be even better if there was a cartoon picture of a dude with a monocle and tophat that showed up every time there was an announcement. Would definitely buy that announcer pack from the marketplace.

Oh, I'm sorry. It's a reference to a player/user who keeps challenging people (including devs) to duels.

Hey I played with your announcer voice, and added some effects to make it more sci-fi and in your face! https://www.dropbox.com/s/qs2o1m9sv4...Remix.mp3?dl=0

Interesting! The filters a little intense at times, but it's certainly interesting!

Hey Ben, I think that you are really good at mimicking the accents. Do you think that you could also try to make a dark announcer, just like in Mortal Kombat? I don't really know what kind of accent it is, but the announcer in MK clearly pronounces the letter "R" like a Slavic person would do. If it is the first letter in the word, for example "Round", you pronounce it the proper way, but if it is in the middle, for example "Scor-r-r-pion" you say it like a Slavic / Russian. I don't know if that made any sense lol. Well check this out:

I could certainly give it a shot in my next recording for you. It's somewhat similar to received pronunciation in the way the Rs are hit, so I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to nail, heh.

I recorded another quick "Traditional Announcer" test again today though for the time being:
