Some good points mate. Anything that makes a game more accessible without taking away the skill required is a step in the right direction.

As you mention, add it as dlc for those that do want it and there's no problem.

If they do a very small priced payed download that is accessible only to 18+ it's absolutly fine. Players in the competive segment might not turn that stuff on anyway because it just puts more noise on the screen. But do not go the steam way, never! Never ever! The people from germany are currently not able to purchase any ut version via steam. Epic looses a complete market here.

Well you know if they are exposed to violence in a game with 1999 graphics that totally look like real life they will start WW3 so better ban it

I think all the UT's, although I can't speak for UT3, the level of gore can be turned down or off outright.

UT3 for instance is not 18+ (in Germany). It is rated 16 (must be 16 or older). UT3 was cut in Germany.
It was not about the blood and gibs, it's about how close it is compared to the reality. Even Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is 15+... why? You kill Orcs and not human.

There could be a forced option to replace human like models with robots and the blood effect with oil (shouldn't be colored red). And you might end up getting a lower rating like 12+.

Gibs are kind of a must. But the current implemention is not polished. All these gibs are placeholder, the effects are not scaled properly, etc.

but doesnt the blood and guts make it more closer to Reality when hit with a Rocket :P and Ut isnt really anywhere close to Reality in terms it set in the future in outer-space with aliens where the player can come back to life in a deathmatch arena its full of reality

This was the Eu lauch event of ut3 and there was a max of 40-50 people that turned up to it , there was a free for all tournament that anyone could enter we had about 30 people up for that to win a pc etc, a bunch of players and other kids where turned away due to the 18+. the event had room for 200 guests to turn up and play but only max 50 people for the whole event.

in all the UT's you been able to turn off the Gore but that option doesn't prevent it getting a 18+ rating as the gore can still be turned on.

Just make an option to quickly turn it on or off in the options? Why would you have to go through a DLC?

If it a button any kid can turn it on or off. UT games has always had the choice to turn off Gore but the age rating applies still if there is a way you can turn it on , but it someone makes a mod etc it seem perfectly ok . look at scrim with crazy mods it has with Gore or nudity still a 16+ game becasue that stuff was made by a community

Good points made in the video but UT isnt UT without that kinda stuff! Competitive scenes usually involve different rules game sets and even mutators in some cases. SO it will be different from the usual community servers or what not.

Regarding your mention of gibs.. Im not exactly sure how that comes in when you're talking about the ratings of the game. I can easily make someone fly into the wall like a bag of corned beaf with my flak
